Mask Making Madness

Hello, Readers...

How have you all been? I've been practicing my sewing skills and have managed to become much better with my practicing and making of face masks during this Corona-virus outbreak. Let me show you my first attempt at making a face mask which I hand sewn:
The material I used as a middle layer and to act as a filter was too thick for my sewing machine. I opted to use heavy duty thread meant for jeans because of this. Despite being hand sewn, these masks turned out really well, have held up against several washes, and I think are quite pretty.
Of course, hand sewing took a lot longer. Since the making of these, I've research other patterns and have switched between these and paper masks until I found just the right design to make. Many patterns were reviewed, but I ended up combining four different patterns making my own design. Here they are:
As you can see, these look a little more complex, but really they're easier to make! The part I like best about them is the nose piece can be changed in case it wares down as can the elastic ear bands. Next on my mask making project list is to write / design a crochet pattern for an "ear saver band". Oh and yes those are my Gingher scissors (one of my favorite purchases while in Mood in New York City) and "Project Runway" Brother sewing machine.

I hope your mask making projects are going well!

Please stay safe,

Brittany
