Connecting the Dots
Hello, Readers...
Today I've been busy with tasks. The first task I completed was finishing a scholarship application. I wrote my essay, printed supporting documentation and packed it all up for the mail. The next task I tackled was watching a film I had never seem before; King of Thieves. Then I decided to do some more research which ended in a purchase.
Research for what you ask? Well...back in 2015 I had this idea enter my mind about Girl Scouts of the USA. I remembered being a member and knew my badges and sash were lost in a family move across states but I was curious. Just what was I missing exactly? Why was this thought so persistent above all others?
Well, I decided to reach out to my local Girl Scouts council to try and solve the mystery. I learned that the troop I belonged to was not in the record books and that sometimes happens when a troop disbands. So I put the thoughts aside. Now, five years later, can you believe those thoughts have entered my mind once more? Even more persistent than before, mind you.
This time I entertained the thoughts. So about three weeks ago now, I reached back out to my local Girl Scout council and learned where my region was classified. I took this knowledge and began researching the region for any clues. What happened to my troop? While I was unable to find information on my troop, I found out that at the time I was an active member the organization was teaching girls and helping them grow through the "Worlds to Explore" series.
There it was; a name. I distinctly remembered one specific badge I had earned and used this and the knowledge of what series the organization was in to look for more clues. Why was this such a mystery to me? Why couldn't I remember more? Sure, I was young, but the gaps in my memory were wide. So I started to research what causes memory loss in childhood years. I read how memory loss could be caused by several things but the one that made most sense to me was that my mind was developing faster than normal and so to keep up with the rate of growth, neurons replaced old which may have held memories.
Have I captured your attention? Are you sitting on the edge of your seat wondering where this is all going? Me too! More to come...
